It Takes a Community

Become a volunteer: Make a difference

To become a volunteer with any of our programs call or email our Volunteer Services staff to discuss which volunteer opportunities would be the best match for you. Contact Carolyn Colsher (919) 479-0385, or email her at carolyn.colsher@duke.edu for more information.

All volunteers begin with an interview (either on the phone or in person) with a member of our volunteer services staff. Volunteers are asked to complete our volunteer application and make a one-year commitment to our program. Training and orientation specific to each volunteer opportunity are provided at various times throughout the year. Continuing education opportunities are offered to all volunteers as well as regular supervision. Our extensive training and support program helps each volunteer share their talents and give support and compassion to those who need it most. We look forward to having you as part of our interdisciplinary team.

Hospice volunteers provide a special kind of caring to terminally ill patients and their families. Share your individual interests, talents, and skills for a very rewarding experience!
