Volunteer Services...A Special Kind of Caring

“It is one of the most beautiful compensations of life,
that no man can sincerely try to help another without helping himself.”
-Ralph Waldo Emerson

Who Are Our Volunteers?

  • Volunteers are people with big hearts, willing to give of themselves
  • Volunteers are people of all ages and backgrounds who desire to help others
  • Volunteers share their time and bring their own individual interests, skills, talents and experience to our program

What opportunities are available for volunteering?

There are a variety of ways for volunteers to assist our patients and their families including but not limited to:
  • Hospice (in-home) patient/family support
  • Duke Hospice at the Meadowlands Inpatient Facility
  • Duke Hospice in Durham County Facility (opening February, 2009)
  • Fund-raising and special events
  • Camp ReLEAF
  • Administrative and office support

“A kind and compassionate act is often its own reward.”
-William John Bennett
